Saying Goodbye with Love and Dignity

At Benson Animal Clinic, we understand that saying goodbye to a beloved companion is one of the most difficult decisions a pet owner will ever face. Our pet euthanasia services are designed to offer your pet a peaceful, pain-free passing surrounded by love, compassion, and respect.

In-Clinic Euthanasia

When you and your family are ready to say goodbye to your loved one, you can call our office to make an appointment for euthanasia services.

At-home Euthanasia

If you would prefer to say goodbye to your pet at home, Dr. Zimmerman can come to your home and perform the euthanasia where your pet is most comfortable.

*This service is provided to current clients only, and is available on Tuesdays/Thursday Evenings only.

Other Euthanasia Options

If we are unable to provide euthanasia services for you and your pet, there are other options available through local clinics and mobile veterinarians. We recommend Coda Pet Euthanasia Services as a trusted alternative.

  • Euthanasia Process

    What to Expect

We will walk you through the process gently and clearly, allowing you time to say goodbye and honoring your wishes.

Humane Euthanasia is a two-step process.  The pet is first given a sedative injection that allows them to relax and fall asleep. Once the pet is fully asleep, Dr. Zimmerman will then give the second injection when you are ready, that will stop their heart. Owners can stay through the whole process, or elect to leave before the second injection is given.

  • Aftercare and Memorial Options

We partner with trusted cremation and pet memorial services, offering options such as private cremation, paw prints, urns, and keepsakes.  We will help guide you through aftercare arrangements that honor your pet's memory in a meaningful way.

Cremation Options

Eco Animal Cremation is a privately owned company that offers water-based cremation services as an eco-friendly alternative. To learn more about their offerings, please visit their website.

For cremation services, we recommend Rainbow Bridge Cremation, a compassionate and trusted service provided by the Nebraska Humane Society. They offer respectful care and a variety of memorial options to help you remember your beloved pet.

At-Home Burial

For some families, laying their pet to rest at home offers a sense of peace and closeness. If permitted by local regulations, at-home burial can be a heartfelt way to honor your pet’s memory in a familiar, meaningful space. Should you choose this option following euthanasia, we encourage you to take the time you need to say goodbye in your own way, surrounded by the love and comfort of home.
